Relaxing & Peaceful - I had a nice relaxing and peaceful stay at Selous Jimbiza Camp. The Staff were attentive, the rooms well kept and clean. The food was also great.
Just... read more staying in the Camp in the peaceful surroundings, overlooking the Rufiji River was awesome.
Loads of Birds and Hippos. In the Camp there were lot's of little Zanj Elephant Shrew, Red Duiker, Black & White Colobus Monkey, Sykes Monkey and Yellow Baboon.
At night I saw a Large Spotted Genet right near the Restaurant and then again very early in the morning outside my Tent.

Getting down to the real safari business - We spent four nights here after a week in the gorgeous and more polished north west. Wonderful people, good dining, a great view and, thanks to Omary, some real... read more bumping around in the bush. Plus our thanks to Flaviano for an excellent river ride. And what a fun walk in the jungle with Didi the Bushman - a real character! Erudite and authentic at the same time. The whole staff deserves our gratitude and applause.

Wonderful experience treated like family - Just spent 4 nights at Jimbiza; was treated as family like the wonderful staff and spent hours gazing at the magnificent open view as the camp sits on river bank... read more right where the river turns. It was a wonderful experience. Highly recommended.

The camp has a low-key and relaxed vibe. baboons visit in morning and bush baby at night. Beeeaters, who are noisy colorful little birds rather like parrot, make neat rows of hole on one part of the river bank wall for their homes. Hippos in the river sometimes passby and make their presence known with loud grunting. I would be happy to spend entire quiet days here reading a book, sip cold beer and watch the river. A peaceful bush version of beach holiday.

Rooms are clean and comfortable. Food was good and the fresh bread shaped into different animals each day was a delight. The real star are the staff who are around to help in every way, and happy to talk about local animals and culture. On my last day of stay there there was a large group of guests, the local African band came and the entire staff danced to drum beat. Eventually all the guests join too. Kids were running around and everyone was laughing. It was a beautiful way to experience how locals live.

The camp can arrange travel and safari in the game reserve with very competitive price compared to the safari companies that are based in Salaam - a good option I plan to explore next time. There are boat tours and all day game drives. Don't miss the morning safari done by a local bushman: it's alternatively comical and spiritual as he demonstrates traditional ways to hunt, find bush food and medicine, and speak to a 700 year old baobo tree. Best one man show I have seen in a long while.

They took so much care about details, like guiding us to our tent in the dark, serving bread in the shape of animals, etc.
Selous Game Reserve is very natural. Compared to some other reserves in South Africa you feel even more close to nature there. We saw a lot of animals (Lion, GIraffe, Wartog, Buffallo, Hippo, Crocodile, ...) and our guides really tried their best to show us the variety of the reserve. Thanks to everyone...
